Christmas day was a bit chaotic for us. First, Bob and I opened the presents from Santa at my parent’s house. Then we went to Bob’s parent’s house and opened Santa presents there. Then we headed over to Amanda and Luke’s house for the extended family gathering. This is the classy Christmas. Jumbo-size liquor bottles and snow-packed coolers. Don’t judge.
I remember back in high school when Amanda was afraid to bake and turn on the oven. She used to buy pre-made cookie dough at the store then make cookies, 3 at a time, in the toaster oven. Thank goodness she manned up and learned how to turn an oven knob! Look how domestic she is! Oven mitts, an apron, holiday hand towels…
We had a pot-luck hodge podge meal that day since there are too many people for a sit-down dinner.
Luke’s brother got all fancy-pants on us and made clams casino! I don’t eat seafood but it looked delicious!
I said this gathering is chaotic. ‘Tis true. We had to gather in the basement for the present extravaganza since we could fit more people down there.
There are at least a dozen other people that aren’t even pictured in the photo above. After the children exchanged gifts it was time for the white elephant event. This is rarely civil. My sister, mom and I are alway in cahoots to get the Clinique make-up that aunt Patty always adds to the gift pile. It becomes all-out war between us and other aunts and cousins. This year we walked away defeated. As for next year… BRING IT!
