Yakiddy Yak- yay kayaks!

One day we decided to rent kayaks and paddle around Kailua beach and off to a small island nearby.

We kayaked over to Flat Island, which is a seabird sanctuary. The rock on the island had holes all over, and the birds likes to lay in the holes and nest. You can kind-of see the holes on these rocks near Rod.

I don’t have too many pictures of us kayaking because I don’t have a waterproof camera. I rented a waterproof bag from the kayaking company. Good thing I did, because a rogue wave came and flipped the kayak Bob and I were in! Anna took the remaining pictures of Bob and I:

A sea turtle started swimming right by our kayaks. It was really big compared to the Port Bay turtles, and it was really cute!

It swam right next to Anna. She could have reached out and touched it if she wanted to.

We kayaked over to Lanikai beach and swam there for a bit. It is about a 15 minute walk from our beach house, but we kayaked over there.

We heard that Lanikai beach glows in the dark when there is a full moon. We walked there one night but the moon wasn’t quite full so the beach didn’t glow. It was still very pretty there.
