Bedrooms

Bob and I had to get a bigger bed because of Coda’s rough life. He has a dog bed on the floor next to Bob, but it just isn’t good enough. Coda demands luxury and a lot of space.

Paco usually sleeps snug next to me and takes up quite a lot of space for a 12 pound furball. Clearly, Paco loves it already. I hope he realizes it isn’t entirely for him. Luckily Wellesley sleeps in his crate at night because he sill acts like too much of a puppy to be left out unattended. I can’t imagine having to fit him as well.

Here is the master before- when the old owners were still here. It was a very buttery yellow colour.

And here is the master after I got my hands on some paint and a credit card. The paint is actually more beige than the lighting in the picture makes it appear.

The dresser comes with a matching rectangular mirror, which is on back order at the furniture store. I think it is scheduled arrive next week.

I even got a matching shower curtain for the master shower.

The guest room has now been upgraded to a queen bed and we are accepting reservations for guests. Here is the guest room before when the old owners lived here. They had 4 year-old twin boys.

And here it is with my touch. I swore I was going to stop using green paint, but I love it so why should I stop?

Living Room

Our living room set was delivered this morning. After getting everything in place this room quickly became my favourite room in the whole house. It is finally a reflection of my style and I couldn’t be more pleased with the simplicity of it. I hate knick-nacks and clutter so I try to avoid trinkets as much as possible.

Here is what it looked like when the old owners lived here.

And with a little paint:

I must admit this room is inspired by Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Beth! I have always loved their home and decor. I pulled inspiration from them and my favourite designer, Candice Olson.

This view is looking at the front door. Yikes, I need to paint the door!

I love lamp. This is an acrylic lamp and I loved it because it didn’t have a lamp shade.

We don’t have a closet in the front hallway so I hung a simple hook rack and decorative shelf near the door. Don’t worry, Dad. I found the studs and screwed the hooks into those so it can support 35 lbs.

While I was setting up the living room I heard a ruckus in the kitchen. It sounded like Paco in a cabinet so I opened all of the lower cabinets but couldn’t find him. I assumed I was mistaken. A few minutes later I heard a noise again and went to investigate. Here is what I found:

He must have jumped onto the kitchen counter, on top of the fridge, then opened the cabinet to get in. He is always up to something!

Gaga for Cupcakes

There is a cupcake decorating contest going on in Denver right now. Taste doesn’t count, but originality does. The judges don’t want to see an idea recreated- it has to be original. Everything on the cupcake has to be edible as well. I got a lot of great ideas from friends and family and tried 3 other ideas- a beach, Oh, The Places You’ll Go (Dr. Seuss), and Boulder mountain views. All 3 of those looked terrible! Great ideas, but I couldn’t execute them.

I couldn’t think of anybody more original than pop star Lady Gaga. If the judges could read my p-p-p-p-p-poker face they’d know I was serious about this competition! I can’t wait to hear my Telephone ring! If I win I’ll Just Dance! Enough already?

It is hard to tell, but I took a piece of lace and rolled it over the fondant before the fondant dried, so there really is a lace texture to it.

Just Rosie

A few weeks ago I posted pictures of the flowers but didn’t post one of the entire walkway. Sure is purdy, isn’t it?

I just bought solar lights today (on sale at Target for $2 each). I put them along each step and they actually look good in the garden. I’m waiting for it to get dark out so I can see how bright they are!

Standley Lake

A few weekends ago Bob and I headed down to Standley Lake to check out the summer action. The lake is at the end of our neighbourhood and only a .6 mile walk away. Boaters have to pay a hefty registration fee of approximately $800 per year just to access the lake.

There were dozens and dozens of empty trailers in the parking lot, so quite a lot of people use this lake and pay the fees.

One thing that threw me for a loop was… the loop. After having free-reign at Port Bay I thought it was weird to make folks drive in a circle.

I’m pretty sure this wasn’t built for 2 grown adults and 2 children because the back end was nearly completely under water. I think the kids were having fun though because I heard them shouting/ singing ‘John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt”.
