I got skills. Survivor skills.

I got up this morning and realized Paco didn’t sleep curled up next to me last night. He didn’t follow me to the bathroom like he usually does, and he didn’t come when I started to call his name. He didn’t even come running when I poured his breakfast in his bowl. Knowing how he’s curious and climbs into anything that opens, I checked every cabinet, closet, fridge, stove, dryer… still no Paco.

At this point it was 6:15 am and I was worried so I woke Bob up. He combed the house and we started to check outside. Paco is like a dog and comes when called and he didn’t come running. Bob took a walk around the neighbourhood to look for him and I let Coda out in the back yard. Coda immediately ran to the corner of our solid wooden fence and got down in play stance and shook his bottom like crazy. I ran over and saw little Paco’s nose through a small crack in the fence. I invaded the neighbour’s yard before they let their big dog out in the morning and scooped up my little guy. He rubbed against my face, kissed Bob’s nose and Coda proceeded to lick Paco’s head and was glad to have his bother back. Once inside, Paco immediately ran for his food.

Turns out Paco escaped when Bob let Coda out before bed. He was outside for about 6 hours, cold and scared but I think he learned his lesson. He only got as far as the neighbour’s yard and desperately wanted to be back home where it was warm.
