Tag-Teaming Kids

There is a couple out there more powerful than Brangelina. Ladies and gentlemen: Pada.

It has been a while since I wrote about crazy pet shenanigans. A few days ago I got some sunflowers thinking it would look cute to have sunflowers on our kitchen table since we live on Sunflower Street. Paco took an immediate liking to them and Bob and I caught him occasionally nibbling on them and we were quick to squirt him with the water bottle.

I got home from work today and found this:

The bite marks are from that of a certain Paco McTaco. After scoping out the house I was unable to turn up the heads of the flowers anywhere. Paco is much too small to eat 5 or 6 sunflower heads so that is where Coda got in on the trouble. He ate them! No trace of my flowers anywhere. This may have to be a flowerless marriage.

They do this stuff all the time. Paco makes a mess, and Coda helps hide the evidence. I have never seen two pets more in cahoots than they are.

Vail, CO

Bob and I went to Vail yesterday, about 2 hours away. It is a small mountain town that relies on tourism and skiing to survive. I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere. The buildings reminded me of being in Lucerne, Switzerland.

We didn’t go skiing or snowboarding this time. Instead, I heard about a free snowshoeing tour that would last an hour so we checked that out. We took a free gondola ride to the top of Lionshead Mountain and the ride seemed endless. This mountain was huuuuge.

We made our way to the nature center on top of the mountain and strapped on our snowshoes, which was extremely complicated. Walking in them wasn’t much easier. Imagine wearing clown shoes that are 10 sizes too big and waddling.

We had a large group for this tour- about 18 people and that included an older lady that couldn’t climb up any incline and had to crawl in the snow, very much like the 4 year old boy in our group. Throughout the tour our guide stopped to point out animal footprints in the snow, like the snowshoe rabbit and other rodents.

At the end of the tour the bottom of my pants were soaked, as were my poor, cold feet so we headed back down the mountain on the gondola. Before we left we stopped by a pizza place for a few slices. Turns out to be the best pizza we have found in Colorado- and go figure, it is 2 hours from our house and they don’t deliver.

Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse game

Last weekend Bob and I met up with 3 of his co-workers and their wives/fiances for the Colorado LAX game. First we all went to dinner at Brooklyn’s bar and restaurant a block away from the arena. The food was delicious and it was nice and convenient to where the game was.

We moseyed over to the Pepsi Center arena for the game against the Portland Lumberjax. Colorado scored the first goal and things looked promising from that. I started biting my tongue when the score was 1-12, Colorado losing. Portland’s goalie was just too good and wouldn’t let any shots in, despite Colorado’s offense being good.  Towards the end of the game there was no chance of Colorado winning the game, so they started fighting. May as well try to win at something, right?

Despite the home opener loss, the atmosphere was still great. Lots of t-shirt give-aways, gift cards dropping from the blimp, and Bob enjoyed the bikini-clad girls in the hot tub near the corner of the arena. There was even a proposal on the “kiss cam”. During half time they had a bunch of dogs come out for a Fly Ball competition. It was quite entertaining. We hope to make it to many more games this season.

Fort Collins

Two weeks ago Bob and I drove an hour north to Fort Collins. It is a quaint little city/ town. First stop was a place called Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. It is a fast food joint that ONLY sells chicken fingers. No hamburgers, no sandwiches, just good ‘ol chicken fingers. If you only have one thing on the menu, it better be good! Oh and good it was. Yummy. Delicious. Scrumptious.

Next we drove around Colorado University’s Fort Collins campus to check it out. Not to much was going on since college kids were still on winter break.

Our last stop of the day was the Swetsville Zoo. There aren’t exactly live, furry animals at this zoo. Some guy started making dinosaurs and all sorts of sculptures out of recycled farm equipment. It started as a hobby and suddenly he had over 150 sculptures in his yard. He also made the front of his house look like a castle as a gift to his wife.
