Today was Bob’s first day of work at the new job. First days are always the worst with trying to fit in and learning all sorts of new things. While Bob was hard at work, I worked hard, too… at shopping. In case you don’t know me that well, I LOVE to grocery shop. I will go up and down every aisle for fun. Since we have a brand new place and an empty fridge, I had a lot to stock up on. I also found an organic farm market down the street with fresh produce, and it is all really inexpensive. I got a whole seedless watermelon for $1.97 and it is delicious! I have a feeling that will be one of my new favourite places to get produce since we go through so much of it.
Our landlord is super duper nice. Our carpet smells like dog pee from the previous tenant, despite the carpets being shampooed and deodorized twice. I have had the windows open all day when I am home, and it is still stinky. Thank goodness for air freshners to help cover-up the smell. The landlord has made arrangements to get new carpeting put down next week so we don’t have to deal with the smell. She even offered to help move our furniture and pay someone to put it back, and lowered our rent a little for next month for the inconvenience. It is so nice to have an attentive landlord!
I met our new neighbour, Lauren today. She is about my and Bob’s age. She saw me outside walking Coda and came right up and introduced herself and offered me some home-made banana bread. You don’t see that much anymore with nice neighbours bringing you fresh baked goods!
Bob fired up the BBQ tonight and grilled some chicken while I steamed fresh broccoli and corn on the cob. mmmm. Bob claimed that if the corn was bad, it was my fault if he got worms. It was the most romantic sentence ever uttered over dinner together.
Tomorrow our friends Jen and Josh come to visit for about 2 days. We’re looking forward to our first visitors, despite our condo still being somewhat messy!
By the way, here is the map of our new place. The green house is us, and the dollar sign is Bob’s work.
